Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
ASIST is a two-day workshop featuring powerful videos, discussions, and simulations. Participants learn the Pathway for Assisting Life (PAL) method, a practical guide to conducting suicide interventions.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify individuals with suicidal thoughts.
- Understand how beliefs and attitudes influence suicide interventions.
- Conduct safety assessments and develop effective safety plans.
- Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention, including life-promotion and self-care.
- Increase your confidence and capacity to provide suicide first aid interventions.
Is This Workshop for My Organization?
The ASIST model is suitable for any organization wishing to train staff members in suicide intervention. While many health workers and service providers attend, no formal mental health training is required to participate. ASIST empowers all attendees to effectively respond to suicide risk and support those in crisis.
Please note that this workshop contains content that may be upsetting, especially for those who have recently lost someone to suicide.
